Riding & Equestrian Program
Horseback riding has been a tradition at Camp Skyline Ranch since 1947. Throughout the years Camp Skyline has built a reputation of having one of the finest riding programs in the South.
Maybe you're an experienced rider or maybe you've never been on a horse before. Either way, you’ll love the Skyline horses! Camp Skyline offers riding classes every day, with instruction in the ring and on the trail. Classes are offered in walk, trot, and canter.
Riding Facilities & Instructors
Skyline has three large oval riding rings where English riding is taught. Beautiful trails winding through acres of woods make trail riding an exhilarating part of our riding program. Instructors lead and follow all trail rides. Thorough and careful instruction in the fundamentals of horsemanship allows each girl to enjoy riding with assurance. Skyline's riding instructors are well trained and certified by the Certified Horsemanship Association or Christian Camp Horsemanship International (CCHI).
Horse Show
A long time tradition of the horseback riding program is the Camp Skyline Horse Show. In this event, each girl competes with other riders of her own age and ability to display her progress in horsemanship. The top riders from the Horse Show are chosen to compete in the Grand Championship.
The Equestrian Program
Do you love horses or want to greatly improve your riding ability? Then Skyline's Equestrian Program is for you! Campers participating in the Equestrian Program will concentrate on riding and horsemanship for four periods per day as well as two other activities from our program.
Equestrian program participants will be provided with individualized instruction with lessons being based on the rider's ability. Campers will have an opportunity to work on improving their riding skills and may work up to advanced skills such as jumping.
Application
You must download the Equestrian Program Application (PDF) and sign up before camp for this program.
The Skyline Stables were rebuilt in 2007 and can house as many as 48 horses. Three English Rings, one Western Ring, trails and the Equestrian classroom also adorn the stable grounds.
