Why Skyline Specializes in Two Week Camping

Camp Skyline is a Christian camp for girls ages 6-16, offering one week mini sessions for 6-8 year olds and two week sessions for ages 6-16. Some people ask us “Why does Skyline limit the one week mini sessions to 6-8 year olds?” Skyline’s Summer Director, Alisa Gillis shares why Skyline is a proponent of two week camping.

The Equestrian Program

We are often asked, “What is the difference between Skyline’s horseback riding program and the equestrian program?”

Skyline’s Equestrian Program

This program is a learning intensive program for ages 9-16. Girls will spend four activity periods a day focusing on riding and horsemanship. A typical day begins with grooming and tacking the horses. At least two hours is spent in the saddle every day! Each lesson is catered to the camper’s skill level. We provide excellent and individualized instruction whether you are just learning how to post the trot or are perfecting your jumping skills. Equestrian campers also get to go out on trail rides and do more advanced skills than our one-hour horseback riding program.

The last hour of the program is spent either on a ground lesson or caring for the needs of the horses. Contact for more information on Skyline’s Equestrian Program or visit our website.

Skyline’s Horseback Riding Program
Camp Skyline offers horseback riding for all of our campers ages 6-16. In both our one and two week sessions, campers can take a horseback riding class every day. We teach English style riding in our 3 large riding rings. Each ring is designated for different skill levels. Skyline offers classes in walk, trot, and canter as well as a Western trail ride.

In both the Equestrian and Horseback Riding Programs our instructors are certified by either the Certified Horsemanship Association or Christian Camp Horsemanship International. We always keep a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio in both programs.
