Skyline VMA's
Hey there parents and friends! It is just unreal that camp is over in just a few days. I can’t believe you will be picking up your girls Friday! We don’t want them to go!!! Where did the summer go? Well, today started out with a morning shower. We had a little storm develop before breakfast but by the time we got to the dining hall the sun was back out and shining bright so we couldn’t have been more lucky! The rain occurred early enough so the short shower cooled us down for most of the morning.
Several activities mixed it up today by doing something a little different than they normally do. For example, dance today instead of practicing for their Showtime performance, hit the pool and did some synchronized swimming and our Qudditch class played Harry Potter Scene It in the dining hall. I went and took pictures at synco today and it looked AWESOME. I wanted to jump in and do it with them! At lunch the girls were given another Horseshoe Clue making them one step closer to the precious points that go towards the Point Cup at Banquet. We had a camera at the ready all day just in case someone found it because we love capturing that moment where all the girls are screaming and cheering at the bell. I have a feeling someone will find it tomorrow so be on the look out tomorrow night for an update.
Lunch and the afternoon activities flew by and before I knew it we were getting ready for a night of glamorous fun at the SKYLINE VMA’s! The dining hall was decorated with black, silver, and gold balloons, fun black and gold table cloths, and little gold trophies on each table! The girls dressed up in their Hollywood best and ate dinner in style. Then we dismissed to the gym where the girls walked the Red Carpet and were interviewed on who they were and who they were wearing for the evening. We had ballerinas, country bumpkins, Olympic athletes, a gorilla and more! We had a banner set up for the girls to have their pictures taken in front of after they interviewed on the Red Carpet so make sure you check those out and see what characters made it to the VMA’s!
Counselors and staff served as presenters for the categories that each cabin’s video was placed in and one by one the videos were played and laughs sounded throughout the gym. The creativity that these cabins had was outstanding and ALL the videos were soo cute and wonderful. To name a few, music selections we heard tonight were classics like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, the Veggie Tales “Hair Brush Song”, and “I Want It That Way”. When you receive your DVD with all the pictures from the session on Closing Day, all the videos from the VMA’s will be on there as well so you can enjoy them too!
Our Video of the Year was announced and shown last and the cabin that fimled that together was…Dewey’s Den! Congratulations to them for creating a sweet, little video to the song “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson. Can’t wait for you guys to see it!
Tomorrow is our last day of activities….SAD! I am still shocked we are already at this point in the session. Our canoeing classes will enjoy a morning trip to Desoto Falls if they choose tomorrow and our horseback riding classes will have the preliminary Horse Shows to see who will be chosen to ride in the Grand Championship held on Thursday! We will be wishing them luck all day long! Tomorrow night is also Showtime, where some of our classes show off their skills such as dance, gymnastics, glee, and even circus! Picture to come soon! Over and out for my last post of the summer! See you guys Friday!
