Crossing The River
Crossing the river is a moment that campers long for their entire time at Skyline. Campers and parents wait in anticipation on Opening Day to see if this is finally the year they get to be the oldest campers at camp. Being across the river is special because it is where the oldest campers live, in cabins called Summerplace and Riverside.
Summerplace
The first time campers cross the river they will be in Summerplace. This cabin holds around 30 campers and has 6 girls to a room. Special perks and privileges come with being in Summerplace including staying up later and having their own campfire with the girls in Riverside.
The Riverside Hotel
The Riverside Hotel was originally built in 1905 for people vacationing in Mentone, Alabama.
Since that time it has been rebuilt to appear almost exactly the same. It even has the original hotel desk and front door!
Riverside is the last cabin to which our campers progress.Campers stay in rooms with four to six girls, each room with its own bathroom.
In addition to the later hours and their separate campfire, Riverside has many privileges of its own. Riversiders have their own Morning Watch devotion on the front porch and eat breakfast in the Riverside dining room.
With 23 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a dining hall, a commercial kitchen, and a great front porch, Riverside has it all. Housing up to 75 of our oldest campers, it is a treat to spend two weeks in “The Hotel.”
