Mrs. Eloise Hart Temple founded Camp Skyline in 1947
and owned it for 33 years. She is the originator of many Skyline
traditions and clubs -- the Mounties, Rangers, and Troopers, for
instance. Eloise maintains contact with the current owners, Edward Cash
and Sally Johnson, and her enthusiasm prevails throughout the camp.
The Eloise H. Temple Spirit Cup is awarded to the club
showing outstanding spirit during each session and is the highest honor
bestowed at Camp Skyline.
Eloise penned this message
for the girls which is as true for today as ever:
"A
good camp doesn't just happen. It is the result of careful planning and a
great deal of effort by a director who is sincerely interested in your
character and personality development as well as your physical welfare.
Good counselors are selected for your benefit, and they play a most important
part in making our camp a good one.
Good Sportsmanship helps you fit into our life at
Skyline. Your entire life will be influenced by the place you make for
yourself here at Skyline.
Good camping is not cheap, neither is it
expensive. But you can make it worth many times what it cost by taking
advantage of the many opportunities available.
We provide the right environment, the best leadership,
and the inspiration, but what you take away from camp will depend on your
attitude toward the program, the counselors, and the other campers.
Lifelong friendships are formed at camp.
Memories that will live with you always will be priceless possessions. We
want you to have fun at camp, but we also want you to acquire many new skills
and to learn to get along with everybody.
When you come to Skyline, come prepared to be
FRIENDLY to all.
Come prepared to be CHEERFUL.
Come prepared to be UNSELFISH.

As Owners
We invite you to join us! Since 1947, Camp
Skyline has provided the finest camping experience available to children from
around the world. Helping Children is a serious responsibility.
Most parents send their children to camp because they
know that the strong influence of a good camp can have a very positive and
lasting effect on the lives of their children. Camp Skyline accepts this
trust with concern and a deep sense of responsibility.
As owners, we feel a keen sense of responsibility for
the spiritual nourishment of our girls, and we will endeavor to provide a
strong Christian atmosphere for them. While Camp Skyline is
non-denominational, we will always seek Christian staff members and counselors.
We feel that the staff MUST set the best example
possible. Young people are impressionable, and the camp environment MUST
be safe, clean, and wholesome.
Since there is approximately one counselor for every
five girls, your daughter is assured individual attention and guidance.
Your child will not lose her identity as an individual, while she will be
encouraged to do her part for the group as a whole.
In closing, we express our wish that you have enjoyed
these web pages declaring the essence of Skyline. We will appreciate the
opportunity to have your "radiant possibility" as one of our children for a
summer your daughter will remember fondly forever.

You
will leave camp a finer girl, possessing more poise and loving others and God
more than you ever have."
Today Camp Skyline is owned
and operated by
Edward and Sylvia Cash who purchased the camp from founder Eloise Temple in
1980. As owners they have been actively involved in the workings of Camp
Skyline. They are constantly upgrading and improving the Skyline
facilities and are also very active in the day to day operation of the
camp. Natives of Mentone, their love for Skyline is evidenced by their
intense involvement with the camp, as well as their desire to maintain a
quality and safe campus.
Sylvia, active each summer on campus, manages the camp
stores -- The T-Shirt Corral and Beli Deli. She is known by Skyline
Campers as "Aunt Syl."
