What a weekend!
At the beginning of October, Camp Skyline welcomed alumnae home for a very special celebration of 80 years of memories, friendships, traditions, and the magic that makes Skyline so much more than a summer camp. From the moment our alumnae arrived, there was a familiar feeling in the air. Hugs were exchanged, stories were shared, and laughter filled the place we all love so dearly. It was a joy to watch old friends reconnect, meet new friends, and hear stories from summers past. No matter how many years had passed since their last summer at Skyline, one thing was clear: once a Skyline girl, always a Skyline girl.
A Weekend Full of Skyline Magic
The weekend was filled with so many of the things that make Camp Skyline special. From enjoying favorite camp activities and participating in beloved traditions to simply sitting together and catching up, there was something for everyone. There were opportunities to revisit favorite places, relive treasured memories, and make a few new ones along the way. We enjoyed the fun and friendly competition, shared meals, and those moments of downtime that allowed conversations to linger a little longer.
And, of course, there were plenty of laughs, a few happy tears, and countless reminders of the friendships that have lasted long after the last campfire of summer.Perhaps one of the sweetest parts of the weekend was realizing that, although so much has changed over the past 80 years, so much remains the same. The traditions we love, the friendships we cherish, and the feeling of belonging that makes Skyline home continue to connect generations of campers.
Camp Skyline is not just a place we remember. It is a place that will always be a part of us.
Making a Difference for the Next Generation While celebrating our past was a highlight of the reunion, one of the most meaningful parts of the weekend was looking toward the future. Thanks to the generosity of our alumnae and supporters, the Camp Skyline Foundation raised nearly $10,000 to provide scholarships for young girls to attend summer camp! What a beautiful way to celebrate 80 years of Camp Skyline!
For many of us, camp was a place where we discovered new strengths, developed confidence, grew in our faith, and formed friendships that have lasted a lifetime. We learned to try new things, encourage one another, and become a little more of the people God created us to be. Through these scholarships, we have the opportunity to give those same experiences to girls who might not otherwise have the chance to attend camp.
Imagine a young girl arriving at Skyline for the first time, making her first camp friend, singing around the campfire, or discovering that she is capable of something she never thought she could do. Imagine the memories she will carry with her and the friendships she may still be talking about 20, 30, or even 50 years from now. Your generosity is helping make those moments possible.
We are so grateful to everyone who gave during reunion weekend. Your gifts are an investment not only in a summer at camp, but also in the lives of the young girls who will experience the love, growth, and lifelong friendships that make Skyline so special.Thank you!
Help Us Keep the Tradition Going!
Although our reunion weekend has come to an end, the opportunity to make a difference continues! Until We Meet Again…
To everyone who attended the 80th Reunion, volunteered, helped behind the scenes, donated, or simply cheered us on from afar: thank you for making this celebration so special. The weekend was a wonderful reminder that Camp Skyline’s story is so much bigger than any one summer. It is a story written by generations of girls, counselors, families, and friends who have loved this place and carried its influence into their lives long after leaving Mentone.
We may come from different generations and have different memories of our summers at Skyline, but we share something that will always connect us. We share the songs, the traditions, the friendships, the laughter, the lessons, and the feeling of coming home. Eighty years of memories. Eighty years of friendships. Eighty years of changing lives.
And the best part? The Skyline story is still being written. Here’s to the next generation of girls who will find their place at Skyline, make lifelong friends, and one day return to share their own stories. Until we meet again, may we always carry a little bit of Skyline in our hearts.
THE 85TH REUNION DATES ARE OCTOBER 3-5, 2031!
