Well hellooo again parents, Id like to thank Claire and Ivy for letting you see what camp looks like through their eyes. I really like it when they bring you areas of camp that I don’t happen to get around to during the day. That’s the great thing about camp, there’s so many different people and its fun watching all the campers get to learn from each other and all the different counselors throughout the session. You can certainly tell were getting through the first full week of the session. The mini campers have developed their own little personalities as they like to all wave and say hi to me as they walk by, one behind another, on their way to arts and crafts or archery or horseback. Its not like they all say “Hi Larry” at the same time, no, that would be WAYYYYY too easy. I mean they EACH say ‘Hi” or Hello Larry” as they pass meaning I get to reply to each and every one of them for something like 3o times as they pass by me.

By now everyone has gotten into the full swing of their schedule and you can see the arts and crafts and pottery projects taking shape. Campers are now comparing not how far they made it up the climbing tower but instead how quickly they made it all the way to the top. the ladies on the ropes course were cheering each other on as they now make working their way across the different elements to the giant swing lock much more simple than it was just a few days before. Mountain biking and fitness class are eager to let everyone know how far they rode or ran today and all the different places on top of the mountain they’ve seen. Ive seen them too, I just see them from the drivers seat in my truck AND I may get there a minute or two faster than they do running or on bikes…….. and I have air conditioning. Meanwhile back at camp… the sun stayed out all day and the water front was a cool place to be…… see what I did there!!!

Mini campers have mastered the amazing skills of controlling a horse that’s so much larger than they are well enough to go out on their first trail rides today and it was so much fun watching their smiling faces as they returned to the ring. Just look through the pics and you’ll see some of these smiles yourself.

Of course our CSR class made it out of camp on their first rappelling trip and did fantastic. We arrived to the area and started setting up the ropes and wouldn’t you know, Mother Nature decided to cool things down a little with a few minutes of some steady rain. No worries though the girls trained extra hard the last few days and once the rain stopped it was back to work making our way down and up the ropes. I’m happy to report that every one of them did a great job and was very eager to point out that the last few days of training were much more difficult than the actual rappel itself. Lesson 1 complete. Maybe in a few weeks it will click in their minds why the outside work they did today seemed so easy.

Tonight as everyone was enjoying some delicious BLT’s at dinner would you believe some of our counselors came in dressed as those stinky counselors from Camp Laney and took our campers club leaders as well as their club flags. Well you and I both know your daughters just aren’t gonna stand for something like that and as soon as they finished their deserts, they set out to rescue their club flags and save their leaders. (of course they had to finish their deserts first, you can’t go on a rescue with an empty stomach!! I’m pretty sure that’s a law somewhere.

All your daughters had to do to get their club leaders and club flags back was decipher a clue and head out to that location in camp and get 4 campers around the ankles of the counselors in that area and they had to do it without being tagged by a stuffed sock thrown by any of the counselors. (we DO like using stuffed socks up here!!). As you can see from all the pics, there’s was plenty of energy spent tonight trying to rescue everyone and I’m happy to report that every single club got their flags and leaders back. Now it was just to decide who did it the quickest and without the fewest campers tagged by the socks. After all the running, cheering and sock throwing (and maybe a few yawns, and even some just plain “i’m laying down” actions as the night went on) the results were……………… (how many of y’all have that little drum roll in your head right now?)……………………Rangers 3rd, Mounties 2nd and the Terrific Troopers took first again!!! The mean green machine is starting to flex its muscle here during 4th session!!

Well as much as I would like to stick around, I hate to admit that some of the yawns tonight were actually from me, no comment on if I was one of the “I just wanna lay down” statistics.. but if you’re a betting person, I’d take the over.

Hope you guys had as much fun as we have up here this week but I really doubt it, Everyone has had a great time and they all are looking forward to the big dance with Camp Laney Friday night. We’ll be out there getting all kinds of pics and video clips for ya to see back home!!

Have a great night, I’m about to head off to bed and check my eyelids for leaks as soon as my head hits the pillow.

Talk to you tomorrow!!
