Hello, Skyline Parents! Today was an exciting day FULL of activites and friendly competitions! Some of our activities provided each camper with an opportunity to earn club points and put their skills to the test by competing against one another. Not to mention, our evening activity was speed challenge, which is our most intense and action-packed nighttime event! And on top of all of that, since the Mounties found it yesterday, the search for the horseshoe restarted today! Read on to hear more about our fun-filled, funky Tuesday at Camp Skyline Ranch!
Today’s sunny, warm weather made it the perfect environment for some outdoor activities! After a few days of rain, I think everyone at camp was excited to get back in action with some more high-impact activities. With third session days limited, every girl is in the mood to make some fun memories with their camp friends these next few days. I saw several girls exchanging (and making) friendship bracelets, and even a few handing some to their counselors!
At archery, the campers shot water balloons that were placed on the targets for club points! Each balloon, depending on how close it was to the bullseye, was worth a different amount. It was a great way for the girls to earn some last-minute club points before banquet night on Thursday. Lots of the campers ended up hitting all three! Similarly, in riflery, girls shot at their targets in hopes of scoring a bullseye to add on to their club’s point value. Even in tower, every camper that climbed to the top of the wall received a point for their club, as well!
In gymnastics, cheer, and dance, the girls finalized their formations and dance moves for showtime! Showtime is always on the last Wednesday of camp and is the time for a few of our activities to showcase what they have learned this session. Circus also has a specific time on packing day to present their moves to the whole camp! Additionally, arts and crafts girlies were making the cutest little wooden people out of acorns and pieces of wood. I even had the sweetest artist give me her creation! It is now sitting on the media room table for all of us to enjoy. One of the best parts of this job is getting to know the campers in a different light and experiencing sweet moments like these!
Finally, our main squeeze of the day was speed night! One of our most beloved nighttime activities and club games, speed night is a chance for our clubs to show off their athleticism, teamwork ethic, and club spirit. Speed is also one of the LOUDEST activities at camp. Coincidentally, in my opinion, it is also one of our most comical games at camp. The entire concept of campers getting decked out in their club gear (some girls even paint their entire bodies), screaming silly chants at the top of their lungs, all while watching one of their friends run across a gym floor balancing a dodgeball on a plunger, cracks me up! I know it makes the girls laugh, too. During speed challenge, they all have an absolute blast. It is a great way to be silly while also remaining competitive!
Thank y’all so much for sending your daughter(s) to Camp Skyline for third session! I am so glad I got to meet and get to know each and every one of them. They all are so unique and have such special gifts. I hope to have left a positive impact on their camp experience, as I know they have done for me! I will never ever forget the month I spent as social media manager at camp this summer. It has been the opportunity and experience of a lifetime.
I hope y’all have a wonderful night and just remember… y’all get to see your camper(s) in just 3 days!
Best, Flora Belle Easley
