On this Takeover Tuesday Ella, the dancing queen, took over our Instagram! This coming summer will be Ella’s 10th on the mountain. She has been a camper, counselor, and head of Dance. Ella is currently a sophomore at Samford University studying human development and family science. Keep reading to find out what some of her favorite things are at Camp Skyline!

What’s your favorite activity and why? My favorite activity would have to be dance! I had the opportunity to be Head of Dance last summer and absolutely loved it. It was so fun coming up with a number of different dances for all different levels of dancers!

If you had to choose one camp song to sing for the rest of your life what would it be? Hmmmm….favorite camp song would have to be rare bog! Going to be honest and say that my introverted side comes out when the whole dining hall erupts in song, BUT it was my greatest accomplishment in life when I learned all the lyrics without messing up!!!

What is one of your favorite camp memories? My favorite camp memory was this past summer when all of my best friends that I went to camp with ended up coming back to work! It was such a special time to all be together again after so many summers. We got to relive our camper days that started all the way back in Hut Row!

If you could eat one camp meal right now what would it be? If I could eat one camp meal right now it would 100% be chicken fries! I can literally eat an entire plate of those in one sitting. Also, my go to drink is definitely sweet tea with TWO lemons, but only if I drink a whole water bottle before the meal! Gotta stay hydrated!!

What is one thing you can’t live without at camp? I can’t live without my watch at camp! Classic counselor move, I know! But I feel so lost without knowing what time it is, especially since it’s my job to get girls places on time!

Why do you love Camp Skyline? I love Camp Skyline because of the people, hands down. Of course the activities are a blast, but I always leave the summers remembering the people I met and how much they impacted me, whether they were fellow campers or counselors! Camp gives girls an outlet to meet people they may have never otherwise met and that’s something that is incredibly special. Camp fully embodies their mission statement, “Enriching girls in God, relationship, and self”, and teaches valuable lessons that encourage girls to leave more confident in who they are in Christ.
