Hello Camp Family!!

I am sitting in my house listening to “Rise Up” by Cain on repeat, if you haven’t heard this song, give it a listen, it’s one of my favorites. I am so excited to let you all know I have finished writing the summer theme! Want to know what it is?

Drum roll please!!!!! Our theme for this summer iiiiisssss THINGS ABOVE!

It is based on Colossians 3:1-2 which says “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts of things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Paul is telling us to set our minds and hearts on things above. So what are the things above? If you keep reading you will come to verse 12 where he tells us what the things above are. He tells us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Paul goes on to say we need to bear with each other and forgive one another, just as Christ has forgiven us. He wraps it up by telling us to put on love and love is what binds all of this together in perfect unity.

Each one of these will be a sub-theme for each day. If you have counted all of them, we don’t have enough for each day but don’t worry, we will spend several days on love. We will talk about what love is and what it is not and how does God expect us to love.

In a world where it is so easy to set our minds and hearts on earthly things sometimes we, especially me, need reminders of what is really important. Are our hearts and minds set in a way that pleases man, or are we set on THINGS ABOVE?

I am so excited about this theme and I hope all of you are too. My prayer for everyone is simple, May the Lord bring us to camp ready to hear His Word and mold us to be more like Him.

Happy Monday!

Sally
