Good morning all you Skyline girls and parents! We are having an absolute blast here on the mountain. The dance last night was a very exciting social experience and new memory for all the Skyline girls (and laney boys)! A lot of school friends and siblings reunited and enjoyed catching up. This morning, breakfast included sausage, pancakes, canteloupe and had the optional cereals as well. Started the day off right with yummy foods here at Skyline made by the infamous Mrs. Donna who runs our kitchen.

Sadly, today we said goodbye to our minis after breakfast. Before we kicked off the dance with the Laney boys, the minis performed their dance routine they’ve worked on learning all session! They danced their hearts out to “Popular” from Wicked with a dance choreographed by our activity head Megan. All of camp watched and cheered them on as they showed their newly learned routine. All of them did an amazing job and then headed inside to watch The Lorax while the older girls had the dance with Laney! If the minis come back for two weeks next summer, they are able to choose their activities and join in on the dance! The older girls also have the option to watch the movie in place of dance night if they are happier indoors with cinema instead as well.

Today is a beautiful midpoint of the session - the perfect time for reflection of memories made, and hopes for the days to come. Tommorrow is sleep-in Sunday followed by Sunday school and church. More on that to come, but we are super excited for all Sunday brings at Skyline! First session is flying by from all the challenges, conquered fears, and new things. Our new campers this year are all leaning into every part of camp and acclimating extremely well! The daily schedule is a great routine and easy to adjust!

Around camp today, photography class had club day. They spent time repainting the club letters on the top of the trash cans at beli deli for their club points. We measure the number of bags from each club everyday to award the club with the most trash picked up around camp or just simply always put directly in the can. Also, in LT class today did life skills with our head of maintenance, Adam. He taught them how to locate the battery in car, check the tire pressure, and more to make sure they are safe and confident in their vehicles and on the road!

Circus class conquered tricks on the mexican cloud swing and worked on silks while awaiting their turn. In CSR, our girls went to a local caving spot called Tumbling Rock and climbed through today! This also included exploration of the topless dome, 396 ft high straight ahead cylinder.

Fun swim got the choice to vote on river swim with the lily pad in the water, or the pool! In tennis, the girls played king of the court - which includes a round of singles with a process of elimination per point. If won, you move to the king spot, if lost - you go to the back of the line to try again! In Arts and Crafts, the girls created 3D paper maché animals (see in photos!).

For lunch, we had lasagna - alongside fried okra, rolls, and corn… YUM! Not to mention, a dessert of banana pudding! It was so good and nourishing before rest hour. This afternoon, painting class did a ‘free paint’ day where the girls could start a new painting, or work on their existing paintings from the days past at camp already this session. Sports class played gotcha ball on the basketball court in the drizzle before we moved to our rainy day locations for activities with a little storm over Mentone!

Our rainy day games included ’I welcome my Skyline sister who…” where we stand in a circle and run across if the prompt applies to you. Like, “I welcome my Skyline sister who is wearing blue!” and all girls wearing blue run across the circle to a new spot. The last girl to find a spot in the circle is next to give the prompt. We also played more camp favorites like ships & sailors, mafia, and psychiatrist around camp. All games that can be played with any number of girls included which is always fun here at camp! We, of course, always see a lot of hair braiding, reading, and friendship bracelets in the creation process on days like today. We also taught the girls traditional camp songs they sang at dinner!

Tonight for Movie Night we projected Teen Beach Movie! This was an overwhelming request by our oldest riversiders that seemed to be a crowd favorite! All the songs included sing-alongs by camp which was very fun. The girls get to wear their pajamas to dinner and for the movie. The movie is played camp-wide, and the girls get to pick who they sit with! Their cabin, girls from their club, or even sisters or friends from home. They typically come to the tennis courts, but tonight with the rain we spent movie night in the dining hall and got all cozy. Typically the girls bring their sleeping bags, pillows, crazy creeks and more to have their little cozy space for the movie! We make bags of popcorn for every girl (they can grab or refrain) and we offer drinks and encourage they bring their wat bottles everywhere!

We also give the girls the chance to stop by beli deli before the movie for a drink or snack with their popcorn. Tonight was so much fun and we get to sleep in tomorrow morning before kicking off our Sunday at camp!
