We are so excited to have welcomed 200+ campers to Skyline today for first session 2025! We have already experienced so many fun parts of camp with the girls and cannot wait to kick off their activity schedule tomorrow. See more information on opening day, our daily video, and information on Waldo photos and facial recognition below!

First session opening day was one for the books here at Camp Skyline. We welcomed so many new and return families back to Mentone and to Camp this morning! Our campers arrived this morning and unpacked in their cabins, made beds, and got to know their counselors and new friends. First, we spent time at our Welcome Meeting in the gym, with introductions to all of our admin, encouragers, media staff, and more here at Camp so the campers know who is who! And, we reviewed the rules of Camp Skyline so everyone knows to treat Skyline like their home and leave it better than how they arrived! Then, each of our campers got to select and sign up for their activities this session. Girls were so excited to lock in their schedules for activities that kick off tomorrow!

After this, our counselors took their cabins on a camp tour, to make sure the girls know where each of their activities are and where to be for our days at Camp! Lunch was amazing - fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, and more options available on the salad bar! We had 3 birthdays, two of our campers and a counselor we got to celebrate camp-wide with singing “Happy Birthday” cake after lunch while in the dining hall! After lunch, the girls had some time for games and ice breakers with their cabin to meet their new cabin mates and counselors. A day at camp wouldn’t be complete without beli deli - so we had that snack time in the afternoon. Then, all of our new campers got to draw the bead to determin their club - Mounties, Troopers, or Rangers. From bead drawing, the girls head to their first club meeting and elect club leaders who are riversiders (our oldest campers) that spend club meetings teaching them cheers and showing their club spirit!!

We left club meetings to picture day and got our club and cabin photos, followed by the swim test for safe swimming this session! After the swim test, we had a yummy dinner of burgers with all the fixins and other options available on the salad bar. We ended dinner with snickerdoodle cookies and headed out to cabin fun night! Each cabin had a fun activity together before roasting marshmellows at campfire for their s’mores! Ending the night with campfire - a few songs and short devo before bedtime.

Today at camp we have already seen girls conquering fears, making friends, and trying new things. We are so excited to continue first session and kick off activities tomorrow! Check out our Day in camp video below!!

Why pay for facial recognition with Waldo? It is so worth it! If paid, your money for the facial recognition goes toward our foundation to help send girls here to camp! AND, there is nothing like the feeling of getting a notification on your phone about a picture of your camper, rather than scrolling through all the photos within our galleries each day. See the graphic below for how to sign up!
