For those of you who don’t know me I’m Frances Lindsey, Camp Mom during the summer. I was a camper myself many moons ago with my sisters. My mom was a camper too back in the 1950’s. I even sent my children to Skyline. So as you can see Skyline means a lot to my entire family. Hear’s a sneak peak of Skyline on Sunday…
Sundays are extra special at camp for a number of reasons. First, we get to sleep in late and catch up on some much needed rest followed by homemade donuts by Miss Donna. Second, we get to wear all white, enjoy Sunday School with our friends, listen to our counselor choir and we had a special guest speaker, Aja, teach us more about Psalm 23 at Church. Third, we have a blast at Carnival with fun inflatables, face painting, time by the pool and of course popcorn and snow cones. And lastly, we end our day with a picnic supper and Counselor Hunt.
When you look throught the pictures you may notice one of our counselors showing how all our distractions in life make it hard to listen to God’s voice. He is our Shephard and we need to pay close attention to what He says to know how to follow him. Are you taking care to listen to the Shepherd’s voice through reading His Word? Are you going through life on your own, using your own understanding, even though you can’t see what’s ahead for you? Aja gave us several good verses to look up and reflect upon when thinking through these questions. Ask your girls!
In closing, Counselor Hunt is a classic camp game that we have played since I was a camper in the 70’s. The counselors hide and the campers seek. It’s so much fun seeing the kids look all around with their flashlights to find the funny places that counselors hide. Some are even found in trash cans…EWWW! The club with the most points win the game. Resutls are Rangers 3rd, Mounties 2nd, and Troopers 1st.
