We are so excited to be so close to welcoming everyone back to Camp to kick off summer 2025 here at Skyline! We wanted to give you a glimpse of our opening drop off day, so you and your camper know what to expect as soon as you arrive here at camp! We love to pack this day full of fun, bonding, and information so everyone is ready to jump into our normal day in camp schedule Monday afterward!
You will receive a time slot based on camper’s last name for what time you can come to camp to check in your daughter. Once checked in, you will receive her cabin assignment and a camp map to head to her cabin. There you can meet her cabin counselors, help make her bed, and say your goodbyes.
Camp-wide in the gym, all girls are welcomed by our admin team. Here they also watch the rules video so everyone know the rules of camp, and we do introductions of our admin, head staff and nurses.
Activity Sign-ups are done on opening day based on age group. The girls are given their schedule options in their cabin in advance, and they bring the sheet to the gym with their selections to sign-up with the counselors for that activity.
Just as it sounds! Girls are given a camp tour by their counselors to get familiar with the layout of camp and their activity meeting spots.
Our campers on Opening Day also get a chance to play games with their cabinmates and they review the Emergency Procedures with their counselors.
Beli Deli is our snack time where girls get to hang out with new friends, staff, and take a break from the day to rehydrate and relax.
Campers that have never been to camp before, and are not a legacy member of a club, get to draw a bead on Opening Day to find out their club. Will she be in the Mounties, Rangers, or Troopers?
Returning campers head to their club meeting spots to greet and celebrate with the new club members after their bead drawing. The first club meeting on Opening Day includes electing the club leaders (Captain, Co-Captain, and two Songleaders) and learning some club cheers to show club spirit!
On Opening Day our campers and counselors also take their cabin and club photos. These are used for the Memory Book that is mailed to each camper after summer, and is added to a picture frame to commemorate that year that will hang at Camp Skyline for years to come. They wear their club uniform for these. All new camper’s club are determined prior so they have time to get their club outfit and be dressed for pictures.
We complete the camper swim test on Opening Day which consists of swimming the length of the pool and treading water to make sure they are able to participate in water sports and activities during camp. Sometimes a simple lifejacket will do!
Cabin Fun Night is our first night time activity to kick off the session. Cabin Fun Night is where every cabin is given a different activity to do on their own so they can get to know their cabinmates and counselors better.
The first night of camp we do have a campfire, but is also includes s’mores of course! Our campfire devotions begin with a few slower worship songs to engage the girls as they wind down from their day before the devotional introdues our overcall camp theme. We end our campfires each night by singing Taps and then dismiss for bed.
