Hello Skyline parents!

The second day of activities is here, and the girls all have smiling faces and are ready for the day! This morning the girls woke up for morning watch excited to sing, say hello to riverside and eager to learn. Mills and Mary Camille taught the girls about God’s grace and how they receive it and share it with others. After flag raising, they enjoyed french toast, bacon, and grapes.

First period pickleball started a club competition! First, all three clubs had to make up and song or cheer, and present it to the group. They cheered, flipped and even made a cheer tower to show their club pride. After that, they had a cross court serving contest, where each girl served the ball, and if the ball landed in chalk-drawn circles on the court, their club got twenty points. This club competition will continue into the session with different activities to gain points for their club, to eventually have a winner. These girls will definitely have a ball in pickleball this session!

In second period, our mini campers learned how to play tennis! They started by learning the different spots on the court such as the service line and the net by playing a game of simon says by running to the different parts of the court. Then they learned their arm placements for swinging, such as starfish, belly button and shoulder, before they finally got to show what they’ve learned by serving the ball in groups of two. They loved learning to play tennis in such a fun way!

Cooking 1 made yummy energy bars from peanut butter, cranberries, and chocolate chips. Cooking 2 made mac & cheese bites from scratch. They buttered the pan, boiled water to cook the pasta and then put it in the pan to bake. After they were both done, the groups got to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Musical Theatre got their cast assignments! Yesterday were auditions for this summer’s musical : Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory! After they learned who got cast, they immediately started rehearsing their lines to gear up for the show. Meanwhile, Set design started creating parts of the set, such as painting the backdrop and constructing the TV. These girls are great and I am anticipating an amazing show next week!

Tonight’s activity was Game of Life! Counselors dress up as different wacky and crazy characters while they throw socks at campers to try to get them “out”, beforehand, campers go to riverside field to come up with a plan on how to avoid getting hit by the socks. c]Campers have three lives, and the team with the least people out at the end of the game win. Tonight, the mighty Troopers won! Go STP!

Until next time,

Kaylee
