Hello, Skyline Parents! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We’re in the home stretch of the second session, and lots has been happening. Our campers have been busy bees! Between activities, evening games, morning watches, and campfires, time has slipped by… and too fast!

During arts and crafts, the campers got creative by using wire and natural resources that they found to create fairy garden furniture. The mini furniture was such a cute idea and a great way to turn recyclable materials into something they can keep forever! On the other side of the Arts Area, pottery finished the projects that they had started earlier in the week. Each girl had the option to mold her clay into whatever she wanted (mug, bowl, jewelry tray, etc.), and today they were wrapping up their projects by painting them.

In Rifelry, the campers exchanged their everyday, traditional targets for HUGE playing cards! Our photographers had so much fun capturing this changeup in action. It really was comical to see girls aiming at an Ace of Hearts versus a hunting target. In Tower, the girls welcomed a new challenge: blindfolded climbing! Each camper chose to either climb the Tower traditionally or climb it while having a bandana over their eyes. Most girls were very brave and chose to climb blindly. It was so sweet to watch the girls that were climbing get cheered on by the other campers. They assisted the climber by shouting words of affirmation and kind things to the person on the tower. The counselors and activity head also helped the climbing camper by shouting the best place(s) to position their hands and feet. I loved watching everyone work together! It was a true reflection of the “eager to help” aspect of sisterhood that Camp Sklyine provides.

Circus brought out the hoop today! While I was on the circus field, the girls and I were making jokes about how they looked like the acrobats from The Greatest Showman movie while performing on the hoop! Today, campers learned how to display a few basic (but very advanced-looking) tricks on the hoop. One of the coolest things about circus is how they always have the large swing open, while also giving the girls the opportunity to experiment with different circus amenities, such as the hoop, the trapeze swing, and the silks. A few days ago… I even saw a few campers learning to juggle! Another reason I love stopping by circus is because the activity head (Julia) always plays the best music! Everyone near the circus field, including volleyball, ropes, and tower, is always singing and dancing to whatever fun song she has playing at that moment!

At lunch today, the dining hall staff served yummy spaghetti and brownies for dessert! A super fun tradition for Skyline counselors is the act of singing when someone loses an item. That may sound silly, but when counselors misplace an item, it is tradition for them to perform a song in front of the whole dining hall before getting their item back. Today, we had a counselor lose a water bottle, so in order to get it back, she sang “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys for the whole camp. She even sang into the microphone that is used for announcements! We also had two birthday girls this afternoon! Happy birthday to counselor Lucy and camper Mylah!!! For the parents who don’t know, Skyline birthdays are a big deal. At lunch, all birthday girls have to run around the tables of the dining hall while everyone sings a special birthday song. Then, they receive cake to share with their cabins for dessert. The chairs that they sit in during the meal are also decorated with colorful balloons to let everyone know that today is their special day. We also have a new Skyline Cutie Birthday Banner located in the dining hall that the girls can get their photo taken with, and that is usually posted on the camp social media pages!

Mounties found the horseshoe! Today, at first Beli Deli, the campers set out on a mission to find the horseshoe. With only 3 full days (and 2 days of activities) left at camp, everyone was in a frenzy to find the clubs’ most coveted possession. The Mountie girls were searching near the rope swing in front of the basketball court when Kessler and Allen found it hidden nearby. The girls immediately rushed to the bell and rang it to alert everyone that the horseshoe had been found! Mountie girls from all over came to the bell and shouted one of their club cheers: Should’ve Been A Mountie. Now, the next step is for the Mountie Captain (Kessler) to hide the horseshoe to restart the search for it!

Tonight’s night time activity was Speed Challenge! This game is a favorite among campers. It is a club competition and in order to win, a club has to complete all of the small, odd challanges listed on their paper. Every club has the same challenges so it really comes down to which team is decisive, responsible, uplifting, can work well together, and is the fastest! Some of the challenges include hoola hoop relay, two-legged race, shoe search, etc. Another aspect that makes speed so high-energy, fun, and a little stressful is the constant cheering from the clubs. As the chosen few are playing the games/completing the challanges, the leaders from each club choose chants to rotate throughout the activty. As a camper, I remember it being loud… but as someone on the Media Team… it was blaring in there! It truly sounds like a concert. Truly, the whole night is one big cheer off and the girls have so much fun doing so! P.S. - the Troopers won!

Thank y’all so much for sending your daughters to Second Session! I’ve had so much fun getting to know them and being “The Instagram Girl.” Stay tuned to the camp Instagram, TikTok, Waldo, and YouTube for more content about the whereabouts of your camper(s)! I post daily reels and stories to our instagram. Today’s is all about Ropes Course and Tower! I am also going to embed today’s YouTube video below. (Our videographers are the best!)

I hope y’all have a great night!

Best regards, Flora Belle
