Hello Skyline Parents! We cannot believe that camp is almost halfway through! The days are fun-filled and action-packed, which makes them seem longer… but the weeks are short! We have been busy bees the last few days and are so excited to see what the rest of the Third Session holds!

Today’s reel (posted on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok) is all about arts & crafts and pottery! In arts & crafts, the campers had the choice to make cupcake art out of recycled candy wrappers, ice cream art with tissue paper, or flowers with old book paper! All of the eco-friendly art turned out so cute. When I visited arts & crafts, I also noticed that the girls sing as they craft! It’s the cutest thing to witness. They typically sing camp songs, songs on the radio, and even musical theatre songs! The song of choice while I was in the room was from the musical “Hamilton.”

During pottery, the campers made small charms. I really liked the way each charm accurately reflected the camper’s personality. I saw the girls making anything from a star to a small rubber duck! Our arts & crafts and pottery classes are perfect ways to be chill and creative while also remaining engaged and fully entertained!

Speaking of the arts, today painting tried their hand at creating a piece of a vase full of flowers. I have even heard rumors that our girls in painting have been watching a few Bob Ross videos to gain inspiration and learn new technique tips.

Our dance classes are fully immersed in working on their Showtime routines! I am loving how each girl is smiling and laughing throughout the entire dance. Our first period class is working on a Hannah Montana-inspired routine to the song “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home.” When one of our photographers revealed to the class that that specific song was written by Taylor Swift, they were all so shocked and continued to talk about it for the rest of the class. They couldn’t wait to share their new fun fact with their other camper friends. These girls are learning all kinds of cool things at camp, ha!

Our volleyball class relieved themselves from the heat by playing in the gym this morning. All of the girls circled up and played a game I had never seen before in any of our sports activities. Instead of just simply hitting the ball, the campers would choose which way they wanted to pass the ball and say the name of the person they were passing it to. I thought this was such a great way to make sure everyone (regardless of their usual position in a classic game of volleyball) felt included and got playing time!

Today was the FIRST cave trip for our caving, surviving, and repelling (CSR) class! Larry took the CSR Skyline gals over to Walter County, Georgia where they explored Cave Ula. One of the greatest things about going into caves in the summertime is that it is always 58 degrees fahrenheit! On warm days like to today, everyone is eager to get a chance to be cooled down. Larry told us about all of their adventures including that they passed through the sump! He also joked that once the campers finished their trip, they said that they wanted to go back down into the cool cave, ha! All in all, it was a fun and successful first cave trip for our third session girls.

Unfortunately, our night time activity of Get Skyline Back was cancelled do to weather. No worries though, the girls got to do a cheer off instead! Each younger group of the clubs made up a cheer while the older girls made a song. After they preformed their masterpieces the counselors sang a song (and attempted to rap too) while the judges were talking. Then, the judges came out and anounced that Mounties got 3rd, Rangers got 2nd, and Troopers got 1st! Even though things didn’t go as planned it was still an exciting night.

After a long day full of games and activities, the campers are headed off to bed. We have to get lots of rest for another super fun day tomorrow! If you haven’t already, feel free to check out today’s video (down below) and Beli Deli Discussion. (on Instagram and Facebook) I hope y’all have a great night! Best regards, Flora Belle Easley
