Dear Skyline Parents,

It has been a great week at Camp Skyline! Energy is high, girls are pumped, and everyone can’t wait to see what else is in store for this session. This morning I was woken up by a bright sunny sky, which was a nice change from the stormy skies last night.

My first activity to stop by today was cooking. Both age groups were making some fantastic cosmic brownies. After that I made my way to archery where they were playing a game of pig. They had partners and would take turns shooting, if they missed the target they gained a letter. Finally, I traveled across the road to horseback riding where the girls worked on reversing and trotting! It was very fun to watch. Every activity I’ve been to has shown great growth throughout the week. Many girls consistently hit the target in archery, in volleyball the girls are getting so good at serving and hitting, and in canoeing they get faster and faster everyday!

This morning the tower classes worked on climbing the towers Funkle and Titanic and it did not look easy. These girls really work hard in this class. Funkle is the hardest tower and all the girls I saw were determined to try it out. It is truly amazing getting to watch these girls work hard to accomplish their goals here at Camp Skyline.

After the morning activities it started to rain. That’s OK though because each activity has a rainy day location. Some groups went to the gym and got to play dodge ball. It was very entertaining to watch! They even did counselors vs. campers, the campers easily defeated them.

Every camper was still kept very entertained during the rain. I got to talk to a group of girls making a bunch of different cool looking bracelets. They told me one of them was called a chevron bracelet! I saw a group of girls playing volleyball. Some of the more experienced girls helped teach the others how to hit it so they could join in on the fun too. Even though the rain slowed activities down for a bit all the girls still got to hang out with eachother and even make some new friends!

Sadly, it is the Minis’ last day. I can tell they have been having so much fun this week, but today might be the most fun of all. In archery they got to shoot at water balloons! Many of the girls have gotten pretty good. Another fun last day activity for them was painting a horse and doing a cracker race. They all got to paint polka dots, hand prints, and smiley faces on the horse Sassy. Then while some were doing that others participated in a cracker race where the girls galloped to the counselors to get a cracker then race back. Finally, the girls got to perform their dance to Blame It On The Boogie at the Laney Dance then went to go have a movie night in the dining hall! That was a great way for the girls to end the session.

Tonight was the Laney Dance and all the girls had a blast! I saw lots of girls getting asked to dance. There were many smiling faces tonight! They played all the best song for them to dance to like Cupid Shuffle, Cotten Eye Joe, Lush Life, and my personal favorite Beat It. After the dance the girls headed to bed so they could get enough sleep for the 4th of July. While you wait for all the 4th of July excitement, check out today’s video!

With Love,

Sarah Ann
