Hello Skyline parents!

Today is Sunday, which means 3 things, donuts, church, and counselor hunt! We got to sleep in a little, and woke up to camp-favorite powdered sugar donuts at a pajama breakfast! After breakfast, girls cleaned their cabins and changed into their white outfit to get ready for Sunday school and church.

In their Sunday school groups, girls learned about sacrifice in different ways. Lodge girls learned how they can sacrifice things, such as their spot in the beli deli line to show love to others. Hut Row came up with their most prized possessions and how it would feel to sacrifice them. Summerplace and Riverside came up with things of their own they could sacrifice for others.

At church, girls sang three songs led by our lovely counselor choir, before the service began. Our guest speaker was Miss Lucy Kirby from Atlanta Georgia, who taught the girls the story of Mary and Martha, and challenged them with the question of whether they’d be Mary or Martha. Lucy is a singer and songwriter so she sang two of her own songs, followed by gifting everyone with bracelets with lyrics from her song on them. Lastly, the girls sang one more song along with the Alma mater before going to Lunch.

After rest hour, the girls gathered in the gym with their blankets and pillows to watch the movie “Lemonade Mouth”. While they enjoyed the rainy weather outside, they were treated with snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy. There were also activities such as hair braiding, hair tinsel and coloring.

Before counselor hunt, campers gathered in the dining hall for campfire. They reflected on today’s theme of sacrifice. Our riverside head counselors talked about the domino effect, when you sacrifice something to someone, it can inspire them to keep it going, like when you pay for starbucks for the person behind you, or even random acts of kindness. After the lesson and prayer the girls sang taps and green trees before starting counselor hunt.

During counselor hunt, the girls had to team up with a buddy to find counselors hidden in various places around camp. With their flashlights, they walked around and looked in bushes, behind doors, and around camp buildings. When they found a counselor, they would shine their flashlight and say “Counselor I see you” before escorting them to the gym to get counted off for their club. The rangers won counselor hunt for tonight!

Until next time,

Kaylee
