One of my favorite things about my job is watching the applications roll in and assembling our summer staff. It makes me so excited to think all of these ladies will FINALLY be at Camp in just a few days!
Skyline campers, parents, alumni - this is going to be a FANTASTIC staff. They are joyful, outgoing, Christ-like, and so much more. I hope each one of you gets to meet some of them this summer or hear stories from your camper about the difference they have made in just two weeks together.
Whether you’re looking for one counselor in particular or just trying to learn a few faces before you arrive, I know you’ll be just as excited as we are by the end of this post.
It is with great joy that I introduce the 2026 staff to all of you!
Head Counselors (HC) are returning counselors with at least two years of experience on staff. In the past, they have excelled in both their cabins and activity areas, been consistent leaders around Camp, and set a Christ-like example for both campers and counselors. This group really sets the tone for the rest of the summer staff.
Each cabin area has at least one Head Counselor - two for Hut Row & Lodge, one for Summerplace, and two for Riverside. They stay in their respective cabins all summer long to pour into each camper and counselor that comes to Skyline.
Junior Counselors are rising seniors in high school. Most of these ladies ended their camping years last summer and have returned to join our summer staff, and some are completely new to Skyline. This is such a fun group to be around - they are full of energy, already knowledgeable, and all-around great people. I’ll be the first to say how excited I am to have them around Camp this summer!
They stay for two sessions (one month) to help out in Hut Row and Lodge cabins and teach all activities. While they aren’t here long, they make an incredible impact on everyone!
Senior Counselors range from rising freshmen in college to recent college graduates and make up the majority of our staff. Some are completely new to Camp, some are returning after a few years, and some have never left. They have each committed either part of or their entire summer to be here and lead our campers - how special is that?!
These ladies truly do it all. They come in with new ideas for activites, have unending encouragement when things are tough, and bring the energy day after day for ten weeks.
The Media Team captures every moment of the camp experience from the loud joy of opening day to the quiet reverence of River Vespers. I think this group is the MOST popular at Camp. It is very rare that they are not surrounded by campers smiling for pictures or lining up to answer that day’s Beli Deli discussion question.
Like everyone else on staff, the people who make up our media team are the best of the best!
Next up - Counselor Encouragers! Campers you’ll see them out and about, but their one job is to be there for our counselors. We have two Encouragers each session (except 1st has THREE!). They help out with things around Camp, plan fun counselor encouragement for staff meetings or Beli Deli, and pour into our staff.
I always love to see who comes back to take on this role, and the summer 2026 encourager group will be one to beat!
Well, those are the majority of people you’ll see around Skyline. Like I said earlier, I love putting this group together during the off-season and then watching them come together each summer. We are all working toward a common goal: Enriching young girls in God, relationships, and self, and it’s cool to step back and see that happen over the next ten weeks.
Counselors, excited to welcome you home in a little over a week. This is going to be the craziest, most rewarding job you’ll ever have. I speak for everyone when I say we can’t wait to see you soon!!!
